FIRE PROTECTION TO PREVENT PROPAGATION OF HEAT

Lithium-ion batteries are naturally flammable and particularly sensitive to high temperatures. Heat causes these battery packs to deteriorate far more quickly than they otherwise would. Aqueous Dispersion of Vermiculite Fire Extinguisher AVD
An aqueous dispersion of chemically exfoliated vermiculite is the AVD Fire Extinguisher agent. It is used as a mist on lithium battery fires to put them out and stop them from spreading.
When used as a mist, the Synergy Fire Systems Lithium-ion Battery fire extinguisher with AVD agent effectively blocks the spread of heat related to lithium batteries. In addition, the AVD coating serves as a fire buffer. A film is formed over the top of the fire by the mist's vermiculite particles adhering to the fuel's surface.
The film dries instantly, creating a non-flammable oxygen barrier between the fuel and the atmosphere as a result of the high aspect ratio platelet particles overlapping and binding together. The fuel source is cooled by this process, and as the water in the AVD evaporates, vermiculite platelets start to accumulate and the fire is contained.
